1. How can I publish my works at Diorama.ru?

Actually it's not so difficult. All you have to do is to send an e-mail to our common address mail@diorama.ru with the following information:

  1. Your full name.
  2. Nickname (optional).
  3. Place and country of residence or origin.
  4. Name of your diorama, figure or vignette.
  5. Scale (e.g. 1:35, 54 mm, etc.).
  6. Brief description of your work: which kits and accessories were used, which items were scratchbuilt, what kind of paints for finishing and weathering were used. Just a summary, not an essay.
  7. Pictures of your work in attachment, at least 3-4 different views. We will not accept submissions with only 1-2 photo in the same view or only black and white pictures. It's better to send 5-6 shots for a single figure, and 6-12 for a diorama. Big dioramas can be represented in more detailed photo sessions.

Please don't archive your photos! This brings only the difficulties for us, because the compression rate of JPEGs is extremely small.

2. What format and size should I use for my photos?

In JPEG. The pictures size must be at least 800x600 pixels. We will resize bigger files ourselves. The minimum size is 640x480 pixels, exceptions can be made only for small scale works.

We reserve the right to select the pictures for publication, as well as to choose any photo of your work to be used on the front page.

We hope that quality of your photos will be, at least, not less that quality of your work. Don’t forget that bad photos can mar even masterpiece works. So, if you cannot afford making quality photos yourself, we advise you to address the professionals.

3. Can you reject my submissions? Why?

Yes, we can. The main reason is incomplete information on your work: we will not exhibit it until you provide all the necessary data.

Another reason for rejection may be that your work doesn't fit the format of Diorama.ru. For example, we accept photos of machinery models only when they are a part of an animated scene, either diorama or vignette.

Also, we can reject your work for the reason of insufficient quality of work itself or of the photos.

And, finally, your work can be rejected for ethic reasons. We do not exhibit scenes depicting hills of corpses, rapes, executions and other cruelties. We also do not accept works which contain direct Nazi propaganda.

Please keep in mind that this is mainly a Russian resource, and some scenes depicted in dioramas and vignettes can be seriously criticized not for the quality but for the content. We cannot guarantee that pictures of dead or abused Soviet (Russian) soldiers will be accepted impartially, as almost every Russian family lost someone in World War Two.

4. How long will I have to wait?

Unfortunately, we cannot upload your works immediately on receiving them. We do it in our free time, and it may take days or even weeks to publish the new works. Please be patient.

5. I sent you the pictures more than 2 weeks ago but my work is still not in the gallery. What’s wrong?

Please check our publication requirements once more. Maybe you missed something. If you don’t see any mistakes, please contact us at admin@diorama.ru. We will try to solve the problem.

There is no need to resubmit the pictures: just indicate the name of your work and the date when you sent us the pictures and description for the first time.

6. What if I send several works at a time? Will you publish them at once or one by one?

It depends on the kind of your works. Traditionally, dioramas and vignettes by the same author are uploaded one at a time. But single figures can be grouped if the author submits them together. So, when sending us many works at a time, be ready that we will publish them one after another, one at each content refreshment.

If the author wants to send some single display figures of the same scale and topic (e.g. WW2, Napoleonic Wars, or the Middle Ages), we recommend submitting such series as one contribution. Exceptions can be made for a scratchbuild or deep conversion.

7. Who decides whether to send the work to Training section or to the major Gallery?

You can indicate it yourself and thus ease for us the burden of making a difficult decision. But we have the last word: we can place the work to the Training Gallery if the author did not specify it, but we can also place it to the major Gallery if we think that it deserves it. We hope you trust our taste. Just navigate through our content once again :)

8. Your mail server kicked off my message. What’s wrong?

Sorry, it may occur for technical reasons beyond our control. Wait before resending your work: instead, please forward the server warning message you got to admin@diorama.ru. We will try to fix the problem and let you know the results a.s.a.p.

9. How can I register at the Forum?

Please start with the Forum Rules and FAQ pages.

10. How can I place my own photo at the site?

All you need is to send an e-mail to mail@diorama.ru with any your photo you like. Don't forget to state your name and login on the forum. We hope to receive the qualitative and creative photos!

11. I have my own modelling website, and I would like to use some materials from Diorama.ru on it. Can I do it?

We do not see any sense in dubbing the same content on different sites on the Web (except for translations to other languages). These materials are always on Diorama.ru and will not be moved anywhere. So we recommend that you just give a direct link to our Gallery or articles.

This doesn’t mean we consider the content of the site our property. You can contact the author directly to discuss the details of publishing his work on your website.

12. Do you respect copyright?

Sure! All materials in the Gallery, Image Library and Workshop are published with their authors’ permission. We've never resorted to piracy, and we are proud to be sticking to this principle. Therefore, we will not promote resources containing unauthorized copies of books or archive photos or anything like that, and will not create such archive in the Image Library.

13. Some of works in the Gallery contain swastika and other Nazi symbols. What do you think of that?

We strongly disapprove of Nazi propaganda. But we have to be tolerant of the symbols in models and dioramas as they depict history we cannot choose or change. Sometimes it’s almost impossible to avoid swastikas in a credible and detailed reconstruction of events and personalities of World War Two.
